We started the day off by helping at Dorothy Day house by cleaning the inside and mowing the lawn. Then we had lunch at farm burger they had so really good onion rings. After that we went to the Shelby Farms park and weeded the garden boxes but sadly we had to leave early because Elijah got stung by a bee. After Elijah recovered we went to the 10th largest pyramid/ the world biggest bas pro shop. The last thing we did tonight was we went and ate at BB Kings Blues Club and ate some BBQ while listening to live music.

Hey there...some thoughts from Pastor Amy...at the Civil Rights Museum we all learned a lot. But one of my favorite conversations was with the boys as we talked about the Montgomery bus boycott and how times have changed because now sitting in the back of the bus is cool. They had their eyes opened to many things today...I hope you ask them about it when they get home!
Tonight it is Ethan blogging and I get to tell you guys about church, the civil rights museum, and a walking tour that we took. Our morning started with a trip to the BLVD church, where they had some really talented singers and a really welcoming congregation. We learned about Psalm 121. We talked about how God never sleeps so we are always protected. We also learned that we can't protect someone or something as much as God can. After that we went to the Civil rights museum where we learned about the evolution of the African American rights. We listened to MLK's Mountain Top speech, and we walked through a model of the bus that Rosa Parks got kicked off of. Then we went to Gus's world famous chicken for lunch and had some decent chicken. After that we went 0n a walking tour with a congregation from Wisconsin. On that we learned about Yellow Fever and how many people died from that. Then we had some time to kill so we went and got smoothies while we waited for our concert to start. When we walked to the park for the Jazz concert we we so tired that we ended up listening for long enough for Ian to get deep fried oreos and then we went back to the Hotel to swim and order Papa John's.
We began our day at a little before 8 am, and loaded into our rental van...a tight fit, but we made it work! We decided to stop for lunch in Hannibal, Missouri. Ian chose our first lunch stop, and chose a yummy Italian place called The Brick Oven. While Pastor Amy waited to pay the bill after lunch, the boys and Adam stretched their legs by going down and looking at the river, the Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse, and a few other oddities along the way. Then it was back on the road to finish our drive to Memphis! We learned quickly that some Memphis drivers like to weave through traffic, but we safely made it to dinner, (another Ian pick) at Central BBQ, where most had pulled pork in someway shape or form.
Then it was off to our hotel to relax for the rest of the evening, because tomorrow is a big day! Our crew headed to Memphis and then New Orleans:
Left side (l to r) Ian Reilly, Adam Reilly, Ethan Rea, Right side (l to r) Isak Froyum Roise, Pastor Amy, Elijah Larson Be sure and check back here when our kids hit the road to Memphis and New Orleans for a nightly recap of what has been happening, and how God is at work in and amongst us!
